LegislationConstitution (Authorised English Version) (Adopted in June 1998) Article 3 (Language) Arabic is the official language in the Republic of the Sudan; and the State shall allow the development of other local and international languages. Article 27 (Sanctity of cultural communities) There shall be guaranteed for every community or group of citizens the right to preserve their particular culture, language or religion, and rear children freely within the framework of their particularity, and the same shall not by coercion be effaced.
