U.S. English Foundation Research ARMENIA Language Research 7. International treaties: Did the country ratify any international treaty dealing with the protection of minorities? Framework Convention for the Protection of National Minorities signed on July 25, 1997, ratified on July 20, 1998 and enacted on November 1, 1998. Updated (March 2002) On January 25, 2002 Armenia ratified the Council of Europe's European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, signed on May 11, 2001. The Charter will enter into force on May 1, 2002. Together with the ratification Armenia also submitted a joint declaration, whose content has not been officially made public yet by the Council of Europe.
