LegislationConstitution(Adopted on February 15, 1922) (Significantly amended in 1998) (Document Status in 1998) Article 4 (Language, Flag) The Latvian language is the official language in the Republic of Latvia. The national flag of Latvia shall be red with a band of white. Article 114 (Minorities) Persons belonging to ethnic minorities have the right to preserve and develop their language and their ethnic and cultural identity.
